Sena 2000 Red Table Wine is a perfect example of how the best things come in small
packages. The Pennsylvania Wine and Spirits store had this as one of their Chairman's Selections this month. I must admit, the price and packaging intrigued me enough to try a bottle. A half bottle was listed as retailing for $40.00 and the price this month at the PA premium Wine and Spirit's stores throughout the state is $15.00. A great bargain for a great wine.
Visually, Sena is a deep ruby color with orange and brownish highlights. I would classify the appearance as interesting. It has a nice clarity and no sediment. It's also a rather "leggy" wine.
The aroma is complex: fruit and spice. Cassis, strawberry, licorice, black pepper and cinnamon are the scents that come to mind. As alluring as that sounds, the pleasant nose cannot come close to the pleasure of Sena 2000 on the palate.
From my very first sip of Sena 2000, I was hooked. This is everything a fine red wine should be: Complex, fruity, soft tannins and a long, pleasant finish. The forward is that of ripe, sweet blackberries. Mid-palate, there is a flavor of licorice and a hint of pepper. The finish is reminescent of strawberries dipped in cocoa. A thououghly enjoyable wine! If you're in Pennsylvania, get over to a permium Wine and Spirits store and pick up a bottle of Sena Red Table Wine 2000 before they're all gone.
14% alcohol....retail at $40.00 per half bottle and $70.00 for 750 ml bottle
